Description

• Assist with critical testing of facility operations (pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine) under licensed operator guidance.
• Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) according to facility permits with team assistance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment (blower oil, filter/belt changes, pump inspection).
• Maintain accurate records of operations, equipment maintenance, and inspections.
• Prepare monthly operating reports for clients, employers, or regulatory agencies.
• Report plant issues and repairs to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow EH&S policies, report safety hazards, and ensure safe operations.
• Participate in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation as directed.
• Discuss plant operations with supervisors, clients, regulatory personnel, and visitors under supervision.
• Collect, log, and submit required laboratory samples with proper documentation.
• Operate plants to meet all regulatory compliance standards.
• Assist maintenance personnel with equipment removal tasks (pumps, blowers, motors, valves) learning proper procedures.
• Maintain records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, and expenses as required.
• Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned routes.
• Project a positive image to clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, and other operators.
• Complete confined space entry training and perform occasional field entry.

Requirements

The Mobile Wastewater Operator (Operator in Training) works in the Northern New Jersey service area, supporting operations under the supervision of the NSA Supervisor, gaining hands‑on experience, managing time effectively, completing assigned tasks, and ensuring client satisfaction while working toward a wastewater operator license.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• No prior wastewater experience required; 1 year related experience or technical training preferred.
• Available to work a 40‑hour week, Monday‑Friday 7:00 am‑3:30 pm, with weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Valid NJ driver’s license.
• Obtain NJ S1 or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license within 12 months of hire.
