Work generally conducted indoors in an office setting with occasional travel to project sites but may serve as a Field Engineer during construction. Occasional travel may be required.
Design and develop industrial, domestic, and commercial systems. Striving for excellence, design engineers are innovative, detail-oriented, and analytical. They interact with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, and fellow engineers every day to produce required coordinated designs. Responsible for writing specifications, schematics, and diagrams, coordinated with the client’s needs, codes and other disciplines. Performing feasibility studies for industrial, domestic, and commercial technical developments.
- Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria, and federal laws and regulations in order to provide sound technical recommendations in writing.
- Provide technical assistance for field investigations, witness testing, and commissioning efforts.
- Provide technical support for construction field activities.
- Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
- Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues.
- Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents.
- Documenting all project communications
- Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations and report writing.
- Use computer programs and spread sheets for engineering analysis and presentations.
- Coordinate with Government client, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies.
- Contribute to safety reviews, risk mitigation/planning, and QA/QC documentation for critical mechanical systems.
- Routine use of standard office equipment.
- Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design-bid-build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc., to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements.
- Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections.
- Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
- Define cleaning, welding, and installation procedures to meet nuclear-grade purity standard and vacuum integrity requirements.
- Assist in the design, analysis, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems including piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, rotating equipment, and vacuum components.
- Perform field investigations, including the review of as-built drawings, to determine existing conditions, document findings, and provide a report to include written summary of observations, data collected, and photographs.

Proof of citizenship will be required as a condition of employment.
Candidates may be required to obtain and hold a Secret or Higher US Government Clearance.
Government Clearance: Ability to Obtain
- Working knowledge of mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, Section VIII).
- Experience with vacuum systems, cryogenic, high-purity piping or handling specialty gases relevant to UF6 flow and containment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Architectural or Engineering college curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and verbally.
- Ability to delegate tasks to others
- Ability to manage projects from inception to completion
- Knowledge of construction practices and methods and construction management.
- Proficient in the use of Revit, AutoCAD
- Detail-oriented time management with the ability to meet deadlines and focus on project schedules
- Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
- Minimum 10 years design experience.
- Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-discipline engineering project design and construction.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, B31.3, or similar codes
- Demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports and in briefing management personnel.
- Holds an active Q-clearance
- . Excellent understanding of customer expectations and deliverables and the desire to produce good quality products.
- Ability to design all components of a project
- PE – U.S. Professional Engineering Registration
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Must be a US citizen, possess a passport, and have the ability to travel up to 25%
