As our Production Manager, you will be critical to Sperry’s technology platform and fleet renewal strategy, reporting directly to the Vice President, Engineering, Quality, & Production. You will lead the assembly team for North American equipment and parts, working closely with Engineering Design, Procurement, and Fleet Management to ensure sophisticated testing platforms are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of production for North American equipment and parts, collaborating closely with Engineering Design, Procurement, and Fleet Management. This role includes planning, scheduling, cross‑functional coordination, team leadership, safety enforcement, process optimization, and performance reporting.
- Develop and implement production plans accounting for capacity, resources, and demand.
- Create and manage schedules for platforms such as Hi‑Rail Detector Cars, Yard Test Vehicles, Adaptive Test Systems, Roller Search Units, and Ultrasonic Transducers.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Design Engineering, Quality, and Procurement to align workflows with inventory and specifications.
- Lead and supervise production technicians, supervisors, planners, coordinators, and specialists, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Set performance targets, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback for daily operations.
- Enforce health and safety regulations and promote safety awareness in the assembly environment.
- Establish rigorous quality control standards to meet or exceed expectations.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to identify bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Inventory to ensure steady component flow and manage critical parts inventory.
- Prepare and analyze production reports focusing on KPIs, output metrics, and budget forecasting.
- Use data-driven insights to develop strategies that enhance performance and reduce defects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, with 5–7 years of experience in production supervisory or management roles. Experience managing third‑party vendors, deep familiarity with manufacturing health and safety regulations, and proficiency with production management software and ERP systems are required.
Preferred candidates have vehicle manufacturing or automotive assembly experience and a strong grasp of lean manufacturing concepts with practical implementation experience.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (experience may substitute).
- Possess 5–7 years of experience in a production supervisory or management role.
- Demonstrated experience managing third‑party vendors alongside an internal workforce.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing/assembly environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
- Proficient with production management software and ERP tools.
- Preferred: vehicle manufacturing or automotive assembly experience.
- Preferred: strong grasp of lean manufacturing concepts and practical implementation.
