As Sr. Construction Estimator, you are responsible for preconstruction activities on assigned projects. You are tasked with accurately predicting the cost of a construction project which includes gathering all data regarding labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Integral to the cost modeling is your ability to anticipate project duration and adjust for environmental and economic conditions. In this role, you will oversee other team members and will be expected to work with architects, engineers, and other consultants to find ways to reduce costs without compromising the quality of the job.
You will be a collaborator, partner, driver, and relationship creator with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and internal team members, alike. The position reports to the Director of Estimating and is expected to apply industry knowledge and expertise to carry out responsibilities effectively.
- Prepare estimates used by internal team to plan, organize and schedule work
- Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs), plans, amendments and other documentation to determine the scope of work and content for preparing time, cost, schedules, materials, design and labor estimates
- Perform site visits for documentation and cost estimating of existing systems and building conditions
- Assist in preparing and maintaining a historical cost database as well as a directory of suppliers and subcontractors
- Consult with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, other departments and team members to discuss estimates and resolve issues with subcontractors
- Develop best practices based on industry knowledge and company needs
- Review and participate in Bid Day activities including reviewing all documentation for accuracy and ensuring timely and competitive bidding
- Active involvement in selecting qualified subcontractors and determining fit for jobs based on working knowledge of past performance
- Assess cost effectiveness of products or services and track actual costs relative to bids

- 10 years prior experience in estimating large projects ($15 million+)
- Experience with medical, retail, and senior/assisted living facilities
- Bachelors in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience using Bluebeam, Sage/Timberline, and On-Screen is preferred
- Working knowledge of Blue Beam or similar programs
