Water Distribution Operator I (113.24)

Description

• Performs meter reads, ons and offs and field investigations. Â
• Under direction, participates in the installation, repairs and replacement of water mains, water services, valves, fire hydrants and water meters. Â
• Under direction, follows established policies and procedures in repair of equipment to ensure proper working order. Â
• Learns the proper use of tools and equipment required to perform the job. Â
• Interacts with customers and acts as a representative of the Company. Â
• Operates company vehicles and equipment according to established safety procedures and policies. Â
• Participates in routine maintenance activities such as system flushing, valve exercising and fire hydrant maintenance. Â
• Performs collection activities of delinquent accounts. Â

Requirements

• Works under immediate supervision. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Â
• Demonstrates strong level of accountability and ownership Â
• Good communication skills. Â
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Â
• Valid California driver's license. May include working in all weather conditions, during all hours of the day. Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time. • Learns to perform the various tasks associated with the maintenance and operation of a water distribution system. Â
• Must reside within 25 miles of the nearest water system boundary where assigned in order to respond to emergencies. Â
• Exhibits professionalism with internal and external customers Â
• Available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, seven days/week. Â

COMPENSATION INFORMATION The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
