  • Performs work on cooling tower gear boxes, drive couplings, intermediate shafts, fan blade pitches, centrifugal pumps and seal replacements.
  • Setting clearances on labyrinth seals, journal bearings, seal openings, thrust/counter-thrust clearances per the manufacturer’s specifications using dial indicators, inside and outside micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices.
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on chiller and refrigeration unit’s electrical and mechanical components. This includes:
  • Utilizes CFC and HCFC refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment, maintains records and performs all service and maintenance repairs in accordance with current EPA regulations.
  • Performs centrifugal chiller rebuilds. This includes:
  • Supporting equipment such as compressors, condensing units, purge units, cooling towers, evaporators, pumps, piping, valves, motor control centers and fan units.
  • Following all EPA guidelines in recovering refrigerant, replacement of O-rings, gaskets, seals and bearings, sleeve Babbitt, thrust/counter-thrust and roller bearings.

  • 5 years minimum experience in chiller teardown, overhauls, and preventative maintanence
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • EPA Certified
  • Verifiable factory training a plus including but not limited to service and operation as well as tear down.
  • Ability to work on the following equipment brands: Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin and McQuay Centrifugal, Reciprocating, Screw and Absorption Chillers.
  • Required to understand and interpret blueprints, sketches or other descriptions of parts to determine their accuracy relative to the manufacturers specified clearances for chiller repairs, including disassembly and reassembly procedures.
  • Experience working with York/JCI, Trane, Carrier and/or Diakin preferred
  • Post-secondary vocational or Technical school diploma in Refrigeration from an accredited Institution required OR a recognized apprenticeship program.
  • Excellent record keeping, including refrigeration and operation logs.
  • Boiler and steam experience a plus.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
  • Chiller components, refrigeration units and supporting equipment, meters, relays, sensors, analog, VFD’s, switches, controllers, gauges, thermostats and other similar devices.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of reverse dial indicator alignment procedures on all types of shaft alignments.
