Senior Financial Accountant

Description

• Compliance activities and data preparation for external audits and financial statements
• Contributing to balance sheet and cash flow planning and forecasting processes
• Review of fixed assets accounting, month end close processes and reporting outputs
• Review of cash accounting month end close processes
• Mentoring and supporting team members to improve capability and quality outputs
• Completion and/or review of month end accounting (including journal entries for share based payments, group provisions and group consolidation)
• Completion and/or review of balance sheet reconciliations
• Completion and/or review of reporting and analysis of month end consolidated results including balance sheet and cash flows to provide meaningful support to senior management decision making
• Driving process improvements and automation in group and asset accounting and reporting

Requirements

You will be an experienced finance professional with strong technical accounting capability and a passion for process improvement and problem solving, motivated by the opportunity to shape how an ASX-listed company communicates its progress toward a more sustainable future.

Aurizon has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant with previous SAP experience to join our Group Financial Reporting Team. This role will support the Group Accounting Lead on all facets of financial accounting with a focus on balance sheet governance, financial accounting, fixed assets accounting and driving continuous improvement.

• Effective and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
• SAP or other large ERP experience, including general ledger and fixed assets (mandatory)
• CPA or CA qualification (mandatory)
• 5-10 years of experience in an accounting role, with 2 + years’ experience in a similar role
• Solid general accounting skills including financial accounting and governance principles
• Extensive analytical capability, problem solving ability and attention to detail
• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce (mandatory)
• Solid technical skills in fixed assets accounting including related tax requirements
• Ability to work as an effective member of a team and build relationships for results
