Supervise children up to 7 hours per day.
Cooperates with Site Lead Teacher, Regional Site Director and Service Area Managers in planning, supervision, and implementation of overall program
Conduct home visits and parent conferences for the purpose of assessment and support, and to share information on classroom progress and educational strategies at school and home.
Support children’s social and emotional development.
Supports and ensures the achievement of recruitment and enrollment goals.
Schedule, support, and follow through with the developmental screening and ongoing assessment of infants’ and toddlers’ motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual, and emotional skills (including but not limited to DRDP-2015 IT, ASQ-3, ASQ: SE-2, etc.).
Ensure effective curriculum implementation and use of assessment data.
Implements and documents individualized feeding plans for infants and toddlers, and respect individual preferences and eating style.
Ensures that education timelines are met within their required calendar day (i.e. 30-45-60-90 timelines etc.).
Attends all assigned meetings and trainings as required by the program.
Work with parents to develop individual lesson plans, goals, and objectives for each child’s development in the domains required by the Head Start Performance Standards.
Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment.
Encourage family involvement of the children in an Early Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.
Maintains a clean, safe and sanitized environment (inclusive of sanitizing materials and dishwashing as needed).
Participate and assist in implementation of the Individual Family Service Plan. Coordinate services between families and other community agencies.
Prepares attendance records, first aid/injury reports, food service records, meal participation records, family contact records, memos, correspondence, and other job-related documents.
Supervise children during nap time.
Accurately completes all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to agency policies and procedures.
Prepares and/or serves meals and snacks; holding infants, sitting with toddlers to encourage social interaction, good nutrition, and performs housekeeping tasks.
Develop and utilize integrated curriculum plans, which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Early Head Start children.
Organizes each day’s activities to provide children with a variety of experiences.
Tend to infants and toddlers’ personal hygiene needs, during routines such as diaper changing, cleaning, feeding, and changing soiled or wet clothes.
Facilitate effective communication with infants, toddlers, parents, and other staff members.
Assists in accomplishing the program's non-federal share through the access of community resources (services, donations, discounts, and/or goods).
Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, in-service training, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.
Maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family; encourage parental involvement in the program; promote parent-child bonding and nurturing parent-child relationships.
Conduct safety checks and maintain a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and handwashing, and assures the well-being and safety of all the children in the environment and sanitize all areas of the classroom, including food preparation and eating area
Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers by conveying warmth, supportiveness, and comfort; establish strong and caring relationships with children.
Promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five and applicable state early learning and development standards, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate.
Maintains records of enrollment, attendance, and other required paperwork, both manually and digitally.
Prepare infant/toddler learning environment for children to learn through active exploration and interaction with adult caregivers and adapt activities for infants and toddlers with special needs.
Supports with child watch during parent meetings/trainings, as needed.
Ensures child/adult ratio is met and maintained.
Advance children’s intellectual and physical development, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, understanding and use of language and increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, appreciation of books, understanding of early math and science, problem-solving skills, and approaches to learning.
PACE will assist applicants that are eligible and have an active Certificate of Clearance with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to apply for a Temporary County Certificate, Child Development (TCC) through Los Angeles County while waiting for CTC (Commission on Teacher Credentialing) to process.
Develop individual transition plans with families, agency staff and any pertinent community agencies.
Promote infant/toddler development.
Provide proof of the following immunizations as required: Measles, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), and Influenza.

Ability to provide responsive and nurturing teacher-child interactions, and to plan and implement learning experiences that:
Education and Work Experience
Representative physical demands of the job include normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling, and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
Valid California Driver’s License and insurance coverage
Must be a team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
Respond quickly to children’s different personal needs (verbal and non-verbal cues), temperament styles, abilities, and cultures.
Must have verification of T.B. clearance at time of employment, to be renewed every four (4) years (every 4 years for chest x-rays).
Demonstrate knowledge of safety issues in infant/toddler care (such as SIDS).
FBI Criminal History Check, including fingerprints
Current Adult & Pediatric CPR/1St Aid Certificate
T.B. Test within the past year prior to employment, and every four (4) years thereafter (every 4 years for a chest X-ray).
Must have three (3) semester units in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development, with a total of six (6) units within the first year of employment.
Must pass a physical examination at the time of hire, and every 4 years thereafter
Work effectively with other team members
Must be at least 18 years old
Must pass health screening (LIC 503) at time of employment, health screening is accepted within one year prior to hire, to be renewed every four (4) years.
Basic computer skills required.
Must complete 15 clock hours of professional development annually that builds the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of staff to improve child, family, and staff outcomes. Of this, a minimum of 50% of the 15 hours (or 7.5 hours) must be focused on the specific content area or job assignment. Must also complete an annual Professional Development Plan (PDP) to be reviewed 3 times during the year.
Must possess a current and valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus, but not required
Must have good organizational, written/oral communication and observation skills
Must obtain 21 hours/year of professional development (105 hours every five years) to maintain their teaching certification.
Must pass the following background checks prior to start of employment:
Associate degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditation association recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
COVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.
