The Project Engineer provides technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager, ensuring that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. This role reports directly to the Project Manager and is accountable for delivering accurate technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Work is divided between a climate‑controlled office and field sites, typically spanning 8 to 10 hours per day with occasional early morning or late evening meetings. Physical tasks include walking, climbing ladders and stairs, and handling equipment, while mental demands involve meeting stressful deadlines and communicating clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
Key responsibilities encompass interpreting and resolving blueprint discrepancies, preparing field design change requisitions and "as‑built" drawings, and generating documentation such as status reports, punch lists, purchase orders, and change orders. The engineer also supervises field layout and surveying activities, issues and maintains engineering documents for field staff, oversees concrete inspections, and ensures proper care, calibration, and documentation of surveying equipment.
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates possessing three years of construction experience. The position demands advanced computer proficiency, a working knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, specifications, and building materials, as well as the ability to perform mathematical calculations and communicate effectively.
