The Electrification Applications Senior Product Owner will define requirements for both existing and new software applications that support Caterpillar’s new generation of Battery Electric Machines and charging infrastructure. The role covers internal tools for condition monitoring and supply-chain management as well as customer-facing fleet and site-management applications, and will work closely with UI/UX designers, data analysts and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include managing and prioritizing product backlogs, capturing performance and persona-based requirements, partnering with UI/UX teams to ensure designs meet customer needs, supporting Figma development, and coordinating with engineering to release new features on schedule. The owner must also understand user needs in asset condition monitoring and propose effective solutions.
Candidates must demonstrate solid software product-management knowledge, the ability to design and launch applications from concept to production, strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills, and excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Experience in technical writing for detailed product requirements and the capacity to work with cross-functional teams are also required.
Top candidates typically have 7 + years of professional experience, including at least 4 years as a Product Owner using Agile methods, and a background in condition monitoring, energy or charge management. They should have a proven record of leading technical teams, delivering multiple projects in complex environments, conducting user ethnographic studies, and developing product roadmaps from MVP to subsequent releases.
