Steel Project Manger

Description

• Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
• Manage procurement of materials, subcontractor coordination, and logistics.
• Monitor project progress and performance using project management tools and reports.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and delays.
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Oversee fabrication and erection activities to ensure adherence to design, schedule, and safety requirements.
• Track project costs, invoices, and budgets; ensure profitability.
• Promote and enforce safety policies and procedures on job sites.
• Prepare cost forecasts and financial reports for management and stakeholders.
• Resolve technical and contractual issues promptly and professionally.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and general contractors.
• Identify scope changes and manage change orders effectively.
• Conduct regular site visits and meetings with clients and field teams.
• Coordinate with engineers, estimators, drafters, fabricators, and field teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for steel fabrication and erection projects.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, project specifications, and industry codes (AISC, AWS, OSHA, etc.).

Requirements

• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).
• Requires travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication abilities; detail-oriented; problem-solving mindset.
• Combination of office and field work (fabrication shop visits and job site inspections).
• Certifications (Preferred): PMP, OSHA 30, or equivalent construction management credentials.
• Proficiency with steel detailing drawings, fabrication processes, and erection methods.
• Experience: 5+ years of project management experience in structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection.
• Strong understanding of AISC and AWS standards.
