A typical day begins with your field crew, reporting to the assigned Survey Crew Chief, and supporting the Land Surveying Supervisor by collecting topography, environmental features, property boundaries, and engineering data. You will use survey tools, identify tree and plant species, navigate varied terrain, and operate or assist with ATVs, UTVs, chainsaws, and hand tools as needed. Safety is central; you must consistently use proper PPE, maintain a Samsara driving score above 70, and report incidents promptly.
This entry‑level position is ideal for someone eager to learn on‑site, collaborate with a crew, and build a career in environmental restoration and land surveying. You will travel weekly to various project sites—sometimes local, sometimes across the state or region, with occasional trips to Kentucky and Tennessee. Crews typically work four 10‑hour days (Monday‑Thursday) with optional overtime on Fridays or weekends based on project needs.
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, walking over uneven surfaces and hills, climbing on construction equipment, and working outdoors in inclement weather.
We seek candidates with a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and some exposure to survey work, construction, or related fields. Basic understanding of survey math, terminology, and familiarity with survey tools is required. Certifications in surveying, chainsaw safety, construction design knowledge, or plant identification will make you stand out. You should be curious, quick‑learning, dependable, detail‑oriented, and an effective communicator.
