The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, develop, manage and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians, and scientists with a focus on all types of roadway projects throughout the lower mainland, focusing on planning, detailed design, and construction administration. The successful candidate will have the freedom and flexibility to build and grow their own team with the potential opportunity for an expanded role beyond the lower mainland in alignment with the future growth goals of the KGS Transportation Group.
- Develop and build a successful portfolio of roadway related transportation projects through development of winning proposal submissions.
- Perform complex engineering tasks independently and in accordance with industry standards, best practices, and specifications while leading and mentoring a growing team in support of this pursuit.
- Train, coach, supervise, and mentor staff with their career growth and professional development.
- Produce, supervise, and manage engineering deliverables on a variety of roadway type projects.
- Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the company to execute projects.
- Participate in and promote KGS Group’s safety-first culture.
- Tracking and managing key performance metrics for the department.
- Facilitating the coordination of multi-disciplinary work across the region.
- Perform project management duties including assembling & managing project teams, controlling project budgets & schedules, controlling quality of deliverables, interacting with clients, and reporting financial status.
- Prepare and check detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, technical reports, quantities and cost estimates, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
- Participate in business development activities, including assessing Go/No-Go opportunities with the Market Lead and Regional Manager, while leading and writing proposals.
- Lead, develop, manage, and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians, and scientists with a focus on roadway detailed design and construction administration projects.

- Experience working directly with clients and managing/fostering existing relationships in addition to forming new ones.
- 12 years or more of recent roadway detailed design and construction administration engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a requirement, ArcGIS/QGIS would be considered a strong asset.
- Strong working knowledge of transportation design principles and best practices including TAC design manual, ITE, NACTO and applicable provincial standards.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and propensity for business development will be considered a strong asset for this role.
- Strong project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills, and ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce, review, and delegate technical reports, proposals and other forms of non-formal written communication.
- Experience in three key areas of Transportation Engineer including planning, detailed design, and construction administration is considered a very strong asset for this role.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 annually.
