Mechanical Lab Manager

Description

In this supervisory capacity, the manager will participate in all personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, performance reviews, discipline, and terminations. They will set clear expectations, encourage collaboration, and ensure regular reporting of operational metrics.

• Ensure team members are trained in and adhere to company safety procedures.
• Improve first‑time‑right (FTR) quality and enforce test sample and quality processes.
• Develop and implement cross‑training plans for assigned personnel.
• Assign daily work, coordinate with other department leads, and review technical work.
• Measure productivity against on‑time delivery (OTD) and lead time (LT) targets.
• Maintain necessary supplies and tools for efficient daily operations.
• Coordinate fabrication, assembly, testing, calibration, and maintenance of complex test equipment (TPM).
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement approved changes.
• Lead SQDC meetings and manage completion of resulting action items.
• Contribute to hiring, promotions, performance reviews, discipline, and terminations.
• Set expectations, foster team collaboration, and report weekly operational metrics to GM and Operations.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least three years of technical or vocational training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, and be adept at solving practical problems with limited standardization. Proficiency in interpreting testing procedures, blueprints, and data, as well as strong Microsoft Office skills, is required.

• Own IRR, FTIR, OTD, and LT metrics for the assigned area.

Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $90,000 to $125,000 per year, dependent on experience. The Department Manager will be responsible for the success of the assigned team and for influencing key business metrics.
