What you would be doing

Perform field work consisting of construction observations, field investigations, and site reconnaissance.
Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
Work independently on small projects or assist moresenior engineers on larger projects.
Give direction to clerical and technical personnel, as needed.
Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of technical documents such as technical memoranda and geotechnical reports.
Perform field investigations including logging soil and rock borings, instrumentation installation, Cone Penetration Test observations, packer testing, geophysical survey, and televiewer data collection.
Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
Develop geotechnical engineering calculations and perform analyses in support of designs, plans, and specifications, for flood walls, levees, dam embankments, bank protection, hydraulic structures, bridges, and pumping station projects.
Conduct slope stability, seepage, settlement, and other soil/rock analyses associated with geotechnical engineering studies.

Master's degree with a focus in geotechnical and/or geotechnical earthquake engineering
This role includes a significant commitment to field activities specific to field investigations and construction observations. These activities may require travel to areas beyond the Northern California region, including Oregon, Nevada, Washington, and other states.
Have familiarity with geotechnical earthquake engineering concepts such as seismic hazard, seismic site response, and liquefaction.
Experience with ArcGIS and/or Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil3D.
Experience with local geology (California).
The candidate should be capable of working independently and efficiently under the general supervision of seniorlevel Geotechnical Engineers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel for moderate durations outside of the Northern California region.
Experience with the following software: gINT, GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), Ensoft pile software (LPILE, APILE, SHAFT, GROUP), Settle3, CLiq, CPeTIT.
