Description

Supervise the branch maintenance program in an efficient, safe manner. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the employees engaged in servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles while providing hands‑on maintenance to assist the shop employees with the completion of their daily tasks.

• Directly supervise all maintenance department employees
• Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment and follow up on staff repairs
• Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program
• Maintain vehicle inspection, maintenance, and safety records per regulations
• Ensure shop work complies with GFL Environmental and safety standards
• Maintain efficient operation of the Safety Lane
• Coordinate equipment release for inspections, service, and repair with Operations Supervisor
• Schedule and conduct safety meetings, documenting attendees and topics
• Maintain cost‑effective inventory of supplies and parts and authorize purchases
• Oversee maintenance and appearance of the shop facility and grounds
• Track fuel usage, order fuel as needed, and compile monthly fuel reports
• Track expenses across all product lines
• Review work orders and VCRs daily
• Run inventory/part cost queries and enter adjustments
• Send required monthly reports to Area Controller
• Ensure cleaning and maintenance of service and pick‑up trucks and shop cleanliness
• Recruit, interview, hire, and train all shop personnel
• Evaluate shop personnel and administer discipline when necessary
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies
• Coordinate additional safety meetings as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• DOT certification for air brake inspection and adjustment and annual vehicle inspections
• Class B Certified Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire
• Prior supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting desired
• Full set of hand tools required
• Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, and vehicle inspections
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW, I‑Pak, and JDEdwards
• Working knowledge of G/L codes for assigning parts and labor
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, manuals, and reports; communicate effectively
• Ability to calculate discounts, proportions, percentages, and other mathematical problems
• Ability to reason and problem‑solve
• Knowledge of the budgetary process
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance
• Visual requirements include close, distance, and depth perception
• Ability to regularly move up to 25 lb, frequently lift up to 50 lb, and occasionally lift up to 100 lb
• Moderate to loud noise level
• Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles

Compensation includes a salary range of $85,000‑$110,000 with eligibility for a 20 % bonus.
