Senior Engineer (Development)

Description

• Integrate asset stewardship values through effective network management incorporating sound engineering principles, coordinated planning, design, delivery and ownership to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network.
• Consider the application of innovative solutions to all designs whether this be technological, procedural or commercial.
• Promotes an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.
• To drive continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
• Develop licence area business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.
• Develop and maintain robust stakeholder and customer relationships on behalf of SP Energy Networks to facilitate delivery of customer and stakeholder strategic objectives.
• To develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours amongst the team through the mentoring and training of less experienced team members, graduates and trainees
• Develop programmes of work with efficient solutions and build robust, cohesive and coordinated plans and balanced workbooks to enable effective delivery within each licence area whilst driving optimised value from the regulatory contract.

Requirements

• General commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer service, efficient network design ensuring maximum return on investment.
• Relevant network construction /operational experience
• Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions
• Developed skills with network analysis modelling tools
• Computer literacy
• Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
• Proven experience in a project development role
• Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels
• Technical / operational experience in a relevant engineering leading role within a utility environment.
• Experienced knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
• Relevant Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
• Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SP Energy Networks is operating
• Experienced knowledge of design standards up to 33kV.
• Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
