The Senior Training Specialist will deliver both classroom and hands‑on instruction to electricians, technicians, and engineers, covering high‑voltage systems, switchgear testing, renewable energy, and substation operations. They will design and maintain training materials that meet industry standards and adult learning principles, promote electrical safety per NFPA 70E/CSA Z462, and mentor learners while collaborating with other trainers and partners. Travel to various training sites will be required to support programmes and learners.
Shermco Canada is seeking a Senior Industrial Electrical Trainer (remote, travel required) in the industrial electrical, power systems, and renewables sectors. The role is ideal for experienced industrial electricians, electrical technicians, or engineers who want to transition from field work to influencing safety and skill development. This position will help shape a safer, more skilled electrical workforce.
The ideal candidate has 7–10+ years of experience as an industrial electrician, high‑voltage tester, or electrical engineer, plus 3–5 years of training, coaching or mentorship experience. They possess strong hands‑on knowledge of high‑voltage systems, switchgear, renewables, and substations, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching. Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Learning Management Systems is required, and a background as an Electrical Technologist, Journeyperson Electrician, or Electrical Engineer, along with trainer certifications and NFPA 70E/CSA Z462 instructor credentials, is preferred.
