We're hiring a Senior Network / Firewall Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of ALEC’s network and firewall systems. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring high availability, performance, and security across our enterprise-wide network environment.

As Senior Network / Firewall Engineer, you'll take ownership of critical infrastructure that underpins business operations across our regional projects and offices. From network architecture to advanced firewall security, your expertise will directly influence uptime, performance, and cybersecurity posture.

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking IT team focused on delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance digital infrastructure. You’ll work closely with internal departments, security professionals, and external partners to ensure our network is always a step ahead—resilient, scalable, and secure.

• Design and plan scalable, high-performance network infrastructure
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align IT services with business needs
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for connectivity issues
• Monitor network traffic and respond to anomalies, vulnerabilities, and incidents
• Apply strong security measures to protect against unauthorized access and breaches
• Manage capacity planning and optimization, including Internet bandwidth
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new technologies
• Configure and deploy network hardware: routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs, load balancers
• Implement and manage VLANs, subnets, VPNs, and cloud network resources
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and maintain thorough documentation
• Mentor junior engineers and provide expert technical guidance

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and IT governance
• Familiarity with network monitoring and vulnerability management tools
• Strong knowledge of Cisco and Ubiquiti switching technologies
• Experience with SD-WAN and hybrid cloud architectures
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Exposure to automation and scripting for network management
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Deep understanding of network security standards and best practices
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in network/firewall engineering roles
• Hands-on experience with FortiGate, Palo Alto, and F5 firewalls
• Proven experience with cloud networking across Azure, AWS, or OCI
• Leadership in multi-vendor, multi-site environments
• Strong project management and coordination capabilities
