Project Designer - Mechanical

Description

• Assist senior engineers in the design and development of mechanical and plumbing systems and components
• Communicates with manufacturer reps and contractors to address challenges and develop practical designs.
• Develops and prepares design documentation in written and computeraided design formats to meet project and client requirements.
• Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and other team members as part of a coordinated design team.
• Prepares required calculations to meet project requirements.
• Proactively pursues additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available inhouse and external training.
• With direction from a project manager and/or Professional Engineer Design, develop, and optimize mechanical and plumbing components and systems, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and industry standards.
• Expands knowledge of technologies, trends, and the markets in which we work as they apply to the applicable project types and continually strengthens skills.
• Provides contract documents that meet the required codes and quality assurance standards.
• Develops efficient and accurate solutions to design problems.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to project schedules.
• Actively participates in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support business.

Requirements

• Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.
• LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 or more years of relevant experience.
• Strong working knowledge of heat load calculation software like IESVE or Trace 700.
• Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism and demeanor.
• Mechanical and Plumbing design knowledge for the built environment, including but not limited to HVAC, piping, plumbing, and system layouts.
• Mechanical design experience in Healthcare, Science and Technology, and Data Centers is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
• Engineerintraining certification (EIT) is strongly recommended.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.
• Understands and works within project budgets and schedules to help the project manager meet project financial and schedule goals.
• Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, and other disciplines to deliver a coordinated, constructible design.
• Ability to prepare and review detailed mechanical drawings with supervision.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Strong proficiency with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
• Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks
• Professional experience in mechanical design for healthcare, higher education, and/or science and technology environments preferred.
• Applies mechanical engineering skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely deliverables.
• Familiarity with various construction delivery processes, such as DesignBuild, preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including CMC, CPC, CFC, CBC, NFPA, and ASHRAE, as well as LEED and green building requirements
