Project work spans all design phases: studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
The Mechanical Engineer will design and engineer HVAC and mechanical utility systems for new buildings, renovations, additions, and process facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to manage multiple complex tasks, set priorities, and lead others effectively. The position oversees the mechanical discipline scope of work, manages discipline budgets for small to medium projects of intermediate complexity, and coordinates with internal and external architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Support construction activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
- Coordination with manufacturers and trade partners
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Identify design requirements, document decisions, and track open issues to advance project progress.
- Design mechanical systems of intermediate complexity in compliance with codes and in coordination with other disciplines.
- Prepare internal training presentations on mechanical design and engineering topics.
- Load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, and code evaluations
- Conduct site walks and surveys to identify non-compliant conditions.
- Serve as Engineer-of-Record for small to medium projects when acting as Lead Mechanical Engineer.
- Lead quality checks for intermediate projects and ensure overall design quality.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, and direct the work of others; work independently or under the guidance of a Lead Engineer or Project Manager.
- Lead system design programming and master planning with support from senior staff.
- Assist with proposal development under supervision of senior staff.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and designers to deliver coordinated, constructible designs.
- Utilize Microsoft Office and BIM platforms for project execution.
- Plan and manage mechanical design budgets for projects of intermediate complexity.
- Develop narratives, reports, construction drawing packages, and specifications with minimal oversight.

- Strong coordination skills with internal teams, trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers
- Experience in Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory) or Food & Beverage industries
- Basic experience with Revit plugins (Enscape, Unifi) and parametric workflows (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino)
- Plumbing design experience
- Intermediate experience in HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design and calculations
- Familiarity with mechanical/plumbing/fire/building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus)
- Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical equipment and systems
- Use of BIM software, CAD tools, and engineering calculation platforms
- Relevant AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) experience
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu
- LEED, WELL, or other sustainable design accreditation or experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Experience conducting field surveys and reporting
- Knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
