The Logistics Supervisor at Southpoint Millwork in Tanner, AL is a management‑level, day‑shift position responsible for overseeing all dock (shipping/receiving) and delivery operations. The role coordinates inbound and outbound deliveries, inventory accuracy, equipment management, and works closely with the dispatcher, aligning with Wilson Lumber’s Core Values to drive efficiency, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
The supervisor directly manages a team of approximately 15‑25 employees, including delivery drivers, driver helpers, dock associates, dock leads, and collaborates with administrative staff at the facility. This leadership scope includes performance reviews, employee relations, and fostering a safe, productive work environment.
Key duties involve leading and coaching the delivery and dock teams, managing daily workflow, staffing levels, and scheduling for both functions, and providing clear direction on expectations, goals, and safety protocols. The supervisor ensures performance standards are met and promotes team development.
Operational responsibilities encompass ensuring flawless execution of shipping and receiving activities, adhering to OSHA, DOT, and company standards, coordinating delivery schedules with dispatch and customers, maintaining order accuracy, and monitoring transportation and dock P&L performance. The role also serves as the primary contact for service issues, maintains communication with stakeholders, and enforces safety programs and facility security.
Candidates must have proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong analytical and communication skills, and a proven leadership track record. A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and at least two years of supervisory experience in logistics or dock operations are required, along with knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting 50 lb unassisted and 150 lb with assistance, and wearing required PPE.
