Working as part of a team, you will help manage client relationships with public sector agencies, city governments, international organisations, property developers, infrastructure operators and other organisations. This will involve providing advice to cities and regions in the UK and beyond on business case development for infrastructure / regeneration projects, strategies for inclusive and sustainable growth and providing strategy and management support.

  • Building the case for investment, authoring HMT Green Book compliant business cases.

Our Economics & Casemaking team in the North comprises 10 members, as part of a national practice of over 50 members. Within the North, we are looking for a new member to join our Manchester office and support the team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about urban regeneration, housing, transport, and the integration of these factors in shaping the places around us. Ideally, we are looking for someone with c. 12 – 36 months of experience in the built environment, preferably with some experience in consultancy.

Candidates do not need to have knowledge of all items listed above. We are an inclusive team who have a range of different backgrounds and professional experience.   • Storytelling and written communication: You are able to: write clear and concise reports; prepare high-quality visual and written documents, presentations, and outputs that tell a compelling story; engage and influence audiences; and relay information in a concise and logically structured manner.
  • Numerical proficiency, research and analytical skills: You can analyse data, undertake qualitative research and synthesise information.
  • You are a self-starter with good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strategic and integrated thinking: You are able to interpret the needs of a wide range of stakeholders, take a strategic view on complex issues and deliver integrated solutions (i.e. recognising when to bring various types of technical expertise to the table).
  • Evaluation and econometrics.
  • Economic appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and modelling.
  • Socio-economic baselining, context setting, data and trend analysis and research.
  • An undergraduate (achieved/predicted minimum of 2:1, or equivalent) or Master’s degree in economics, geography, real estate, public policy, business, or another built environment discipline such as town planning.
  • Vision, strategy and economic storytelling documents for regeneration, development and infrastructure proposals.
