The role supports operation, maintenance, testing, and inspection of natural gas compression facilities within an assigned area. The incumbent works independently with minimal supervision, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of facility assets and adhering to strict safety practices, operating procedures, work‑management processes, and compliance requirements.
- Operate and control compressor units, executing start‑up, shutdown, pressure and flow changes within operating limits.
- Coordinate facility operations with Gas Control and report pressure data.
- Monitor, adjust, and maintain equipment fluid levels; report malfunctions.
- Develop, review, and implement Gas Handling and Energy Isolation (LOTO) plans.
- Perform gas handling activities such as blow‑downs, purging, pressurizing and equipment isolation.
- Interpret operational maps, instrument readings, and update charts as needed.
- Conduct environmental sampling, manage waste inventory, and ensure proper hazardous material disposal.
- Support inspections by USRC and external agencies, documenting work in the electronic Work Management system.
- Train new employees, manage on‑site contractors/vendors, and oversee spare‑parts availability.
- Perform routine maintenance, corrosion inspections, safety‑equipment checks, and assist with major overhauls and PSSR/MOC reviews.
- Balance power cylinders, maintain valve and crane equipment, and handle general station and building upkeep.
- Maintain regulatory filings, shipping manifests, and ensure compliance with safety and control‑of‑work policies.

Minimum qualifications include a high‑school diploma or equivalent, demonstrated mechanical knowledge, and practical experience with natural‑gas compression equipment. Candidates must be able to obtain required operator qualifications, hold a valid driver’s license (and DOT certification if required), and be proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, SharePoint, and the company’s work‑management systems.
Additional requirements involve maintaining a safe driving record, passing pre‑employment medical, drug, and alcohol screenings, and being available for 24/7 call‑outs and extended emergency shifts. The position may require work in extreme weather, respiratory fit testing, use of SCBA, and occasional travel for temporary assignments or training.
- High school diploma or equivalent with mechanical knowledge and experience in natural‑gas compression operations.
- Ability to obtain required Operator Qualifications and hold a valid driver’s license with DOT certification as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, SharePoint, SAP Work Manager/Blueworx, and other computer systems.
- Availability for 24/7 call‑outs, extended shifts, and work in extreme weather; pass respiratory fit testing.
