The engineer will create data pipelines, data products, BI solutions and GenAI‑enabled tools, translating business requirements into high‑quality data assets and working with SAP S/4HANA Embedded Analytics and SAP BI. They will also contribute to data architecture, storage, processing, performance and security, selecting appropriate technologies and ensuring reliability and scalability.
Collaboration is key: the engineer will work closely with data stewards, platform engineers, BI analysts and business teams to enforce governance, standards and best practices, managing testing, documentation and release lifecycle. They will ensure design changes follow Orica’s IT architecture and governance, partnering with vendors and project managers to deliver stable, secure and compliant solutions.
Required qualifications include an IT‑related degree, 10+ years of experience covering at least two areas such as SAP BI/S/4 Embedded Analytics, data management, ETL, analytics, visualization, data warehousing or cloud data services, and expertise in API management. Experience in global organisations using Agile and DevOps, strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, excellent communication and the ability to work with multi‑sourced teams are also essential.
Nice‑to‑have attributes are certifications or experience with SAP, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform, five or more years designing and deploying cloud data products, and familiarity with SAP BI integrated with Microsoft or Google ecosystems.
