Supporting minor mechanical, electrical, and fabric repairs - no two days are the same

Carrying out day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the site

Assisting with statutory and mandatory maintenance work as directed by the Engineering Supervisor

Maintaining accurate records and using IT systems for task updates and reporting

Conducting regular door and fire door inspections to ensure safety compliance

Participating in a shared out-of-hours call-out rota for both schools on the Barking contract

Equans is looking for a reliable and skilled Handyperson (Maintenance Operative) to join our on-site Facilities Management team at a secondary school in Barking. You'll play a key role in keeping the school safe, operational, and well-maintained, helping to create a better environment for staff and students alike.

Able to pass an enhanced DBS check (required due to school environment)

Previous experience in general maintenance or building services, ideally in a commercial or educational setting

A full UK driving licence

Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach

Comfortable using IT systems for reporting and scheduling (basic computer literacy essential)

Able to work independently, take initiative, and manage your own time effectively
