  • Be able to interpret contractual obligations and ensure these are delivered by effective audits.
  • Undertaking performance audits in line with the audit plan and to an agreed programme
  • By effective management of the contractor’s performance, the post holder will also help to reduce risks to SW in not meeting its statutory obligations with regards to consent compliance, pollution incidents and general waste and recycling legislation.
  • Monitoring Contractor’s performance against requirements and programme
  • Providing recommendations to improve performance-based audit results, and implementing as appropriate
  • Assessment of Contractor’s proposals with regard to financial/commercial implications as required
  • Development of audit programmes to ensure compliance with the contract and enhance the performance of the contractor
  • Providing analysis and reporting as required
  • The post holder will need to be able to confidently communicate with all areas of the business including significant liaison with Field Operations and externally with the Contractor. They will need to analyse significant quantities of data from both Southern Water’s systems and those of the Contractor in analysing and assessing performance. They will need to appreciate the operational, technical and commercial implications of the Waste Management and Recycling Contract and any resultant impact on the assets and levels of service. The post holder will maintain an active awareness of the Contractor’s proposals in line with Company standards and ensure statutory, regulatory and safety requirements are not compromised by the Contractor’s performance.
  • Analysing Contractor data as part of the review of Contractor’s financial submissions
  • The post holder will need to be able to review contractor responsibilities and identify key performance audits to be undertaken to demonstrate required contractor performance.

  • Good data analysis and information handling skills, good organisational and planning skills
  • Awareness of SW’s statutory obligations and levels of service to customers and how the contractor’s performance will impact on WTW compliance and stable operation of STCs.
  • Strong communication sills both written and verbal
  • Be computer literate to a proficient level in appropriate financial systems together with Word, Excel and Access and have good working knowledge of Outlook, Cognos and SW IT systems
  • Proven experience in the analysis of data and information handling, preferably in managing contract performance
  • Strong technical, commercial and contractual awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and on own initiative
  • All necessary PPE, tools, uniform and training to excel in your career at Southern Water
