Senior Transport Planner

Description

• Mentor and guide junior colleagues to work to unlock their potential.
• Oversight of graduate and consultant work - including task management, quality reviews and mentoring and technical coaching.
• Prepare, supervise and deliver in-person presentations/workshops to local internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Raising visibility of our local and national transport planning capabilities to enable team growth.
• Support the preparation of bids to win work with existing and new clients.
• Managing your time to ensure you meet deadlines.
• Working with our regional and national leads, you will pro-actively manage a range of projects, including the production of high-quality analysis and associated outputs, within time and budget.

Requirements

• Ability to engage with our clients and stakeholders, and to undertake in-person stakeholder facilitation.
• The proven ability to project manage small projects or task management on larger projects (time, cost, quality).
• Adaptability to work on a wide range of transport planning projects, including Development Planning and Management / Spatial Planning projects.
• SEWTAPS Framework, (e.g. Cardiff Council)
• An analytical background and broad understanding of transport planning methods and best practice techniques.
• A team player who can work as part of wider project teams across disciplines and geographies – making high quality technical contributions.
• Significant experience in areas such as transport assessments, strategy, planning and/or business case development, demonstrating excellent technical capabilities (literacy, numeracy, communication).
• Flexibility to travel to other AECOM and client offices, depending on project requirements.
• Ability to prepare reports and presentations in a focussed, logical and concise manner and which are consistent with the quality of the regional AECOM team.
• Membership of a relevant chartered professional institution such as CIHT or TPS.
• A highly motivated individual with an inquisitive mindset, excellent communication skills and ability to work in a consultancy environment, contributing to effective client relationships and working to tight deadlines.
• Degree/Masters qualification in analytical subject (e.g. engineering, geography, mathematics, economics, spatial planning) from an accredited college or university, or overall equivalent experience.
• Chartership or demonstrable progress of working towards professional chartership, such as the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification or Chartered Engineer (CEng).
