Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of construction equipment and heavy plant on state highway projects throughout the Nelson region, while also supporting general labour tasks as required. All work must meet the relevant codes of practice and quality standards.

The position expects a strong commitment to living safely, the flexibility to be rostered on‑call and to work night shifts when needed, and the willingness to adopt new technology such as tablet‑based tools, with training provided.
Candidates must hold at least a Class 2 driver’s licence (Class 5 preferred) and possess experience in pavement construction and drainage. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate a reliable work ethic and an excellent safety record.
