- Review and evaluate technical work, and manage staff selection, training, performance, and discipline.
- Participate in strategic planning and make independent decisions on engineering policies and procedures.
- Support procurement, planning, production, testing & commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Provide technical advice to management and operating departments.
- Make responsible, independent decisions and recommendations on projects, including those with significant impact or budget.
- Develop integration plans for rolling stock and ensure assurance of new systems and operating methods.
- Oversee complex engineering applications such as systems engineering, manufacturing liaison, configuration control, systems assurance, materials compliance, and engineering change.
- Work closely with Fleet Engineering Managers to ensure correct resource allocation for engineering change processes.
