The Role

Overview

Design and analyze civil/structural components for low, medium, and high voltage substations.

Tasks

-May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events. -Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage). -Develop design deliverables including fabrication level steel drawings and foundation construction drawings. -Prepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings. -Participate on site visits during the design, construction and as-built phases of projects. -Work with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements. -Participate in project reviews as needed.

What You Bring

-Experience with Tedds, Lpile or similar structural design software. -Expose to substation design is a plus -Ability to work in a team environment. -Computer skills in Microsoft Office -Local candidates preferred -Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. -Bachelor's degree in Engineering -EIT certification or ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression -Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering field -Master's degree -Self-motivated and ability to take initiative. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility is a plus.
