By fostering strong collaboration and clear accountability, the Support Services Director ensures the organisation’s foundations are robust, responsive, and aligned to strategic goals, allowing operational and frontline teams to focus on delivering outstanding outcomes without operational hindrance.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across property, facilities, site security, and the National Operating Centre.
- Ensure all support departments comply with internal policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and continuously improve customer service protocols and performance monitoring across all channels.
- Lead marketing and communications strategy to strengthen brand, manage internal/external messaging, and maintain consistent materials.
- Recruit, develop, and manage support services staff, building a high‑performing, customer‑focused culture.
- Administer departmental budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and negotiate contracts with external suppliers.
- Implement data reporting systems, analyse metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with other department heads to embed support services in organisational planning and remove workflow barriers.
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning to minimise disruption during emergencies.
- Oversight of property and facilities management for depots, offices, and critical infrastructure with health, safety, and environmental compliance.

The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrable background in leading complex support functions within a large, asset‑intensive, regulated environment such as utilities, infrastructure, or engineering, and will have senior‑level experience overseeing property, facilities, security, customer service, and 24/7 operational control centres.
- Senior leadership experience managing multiple support functions in a large, geographically dispersed organisation.
- Expertise in site security and critical infrastructure protection, including access control and incident response.
- Proven leadership of customer service operations or call centres in a regulated or essential services environment.
- Experience with a 24/7 National Operating Centre or similar operational control function.
- Track record in marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement for high‑profile environments.
- Experience developing business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response plans for safety‑critical operations.
