  • Coordinate field work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure activities are properly scheduled and executed as planned in accordance with WMATA policies and procedures with no or minimized impacts to WMATA;
  • Regularly review plans/ drawings, specifications, regulations, D/B's schedule and plan, safety standards and regulations, approved working drawings, trade industry quality standards and codes, to evaluate the contractor's performance and recognize when a probable changed site condition exists;
  • Coordinate access / crew support requests with the D/B and relevant WMATA stakeholders;
  • Review contractors lookahead, manage weekly work planner, manage RSA request, SOW and reports;
  • Develop and implement solutions to "form and fit" problems encountered in the field; Record solution(s) and exact resources consumed by the contractor in achieving the "form and fit" correction;
  • Assist WMATA with staffing, resource management, staff management and financial reporting and documentation tasks; and
  • Instruct Inspectors on the performance of daily tasks to perform quality inspections, and how other contracts/ third-party work or activities interface with the assigned contract(s).;
  • Manage Crew Support Personnel (CSP), Track Access and Switch Orders (GOTRS), and WMATA Equipment and work train requests and coordination;
  • Review contractor’s lookahead schedule and monitor daily activities and report on job progress;
  • Coordinate actual and planned work schedules among contractors whose work affects the work of one or more other contractors. Disseminate changes in work schedules and progress information to all concerned parties; Make random checks of Construction Inspectors' work to ensure all assignments are properly executed, that reports are complete and reflect actual progress of construction;
  • Conduct spot checks to determine quantities of material installed (to evaluate correctness of contractor payment requests reflecting those installations); checks reports (Inspector Daily Report) received from Construction Inspectors for completeness and adherence to instructions;
  • Assign daily duties and works schedules to Construction Inspectors, including briefing Inspectors on the current directives, drawings, schedule plans, expected rates of production, and amount of work to be completed; interpretation of specifications, claims, and pending change orders; coordination of support agencies and activities; resolution of problems previously noted by Inspectors; and agreements between the Authority Representative and D/B;

  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced engineering environment;
  • Demonstrated experience of coordination of large projects with complex schedules and budget;
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered if the resume demonstrates progressively responsible experience as a Construction Inspector, and Assistant Project Engineer or Field Office Engineer.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365® Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and five (5) years’ experience as a Construction Inspector, and Assistant Project Engineer or Field Office Engineer or completion of a course of study in related fields and seven (7) years of experience.
  • Multidiscipline construction management experience;
  • Familiarity with WMATA standard processes and procedures;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience with design, construction, or major repair/rehabilitation of infrastructure projects;
  • Must be able to successfully complete WMATA’s Railway Worker Protection Certification (RWP) Class;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills; and
