Under general supervision, collect and compile environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for analysis.
Assist with performing basic professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources.
Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks.
Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
Study water cycles and directions in which water flows to determine the influence of weather and other environmental forces.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Familiarity with the concepts of professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.
Engineer in Training Certification.
Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
