As an Operating Engineer in Alexandria, VA, you will maintain, monitor, and repair critical facility systems—including fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, UPS, generators, and hot water—to ensure continuous, reliable operation in mission‑critical environments.
- Perform preventive maintenance and monitoring of all building systems (fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, UPS, generators, hot water).
- Adjust, maintain, and repair refrigeration, chilled water, boilers, ventilators, pumps, valves, filters, and related mechanical/electrical equipment.
- Conduct regular rounds, record readings, analyze performance, and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Repair and operate critical equipment such as UPS systems, generators, chillers, and air‑conditioning units.
- Oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with facility protocols and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of building rounds, engineering logs, and data sheets.
- Complete Critical Environment Operations & HSSE training and ensure contractors are informed of emergency procedures.
- Adhere to emergency escalation, Critical Facility Work Authorization, MOP/SOP/EOP protocols, and technical bulletins.

The role requires hands‑on experience in data‑center or critical‑facility settings, a high school diploma or GED, proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS platforms, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to interpret technical documents and solve complex problems independently.
Preferred candidates may hold additional technical certifications, have experience facilitating or training on critical‑environment protocols, and be prepared for physical tasks such as inspections, repairs, lifting, climbing, and rapid emergency response.
