This Executive Assistant will provide lead administrative support to one or more SMUD executives and will be part of a team that serves the Executive Office. The role reports to the Manager of the Executive Office.
The position performs complex and highly responsible administrative support and scheduling duties for the Executive Office, operating independently within established policies and requiring high levels of tact, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
Key duties include providing administrative, analytical, and technical support; managing calendars and meeting logistics; preparing presentations and board committee materials; acting as a liaison with HR, vendors, and external agencies; supporting project planning and execution; and providing backup coverage for other executive assistants.
Ideal candidates have a proven record of supporting multiple senior leaders with complex scheduling, are highly organized and detail‑oriented, and can proactively solve problems while remaining calm under pressure. They thrive both independently and collaboratively, exhibit strong customer service, communicate tactfully on behalf of executives, and bring a positive, community‑focused attitude to their work.
Candidates must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and three or more years of experience supporting a senior leader or executive. Required knowledge spans administrative principles, analytical research, modern office technology, effective communication, and relevant legal and municipal government regulations.
Desirable qualifications include five or more years of experience supporting multiple executives, advanced troubleshooting skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, and an associate degree in Business, Communications, or a related field.
The position offers a salary range of $94,182.40 to $124,800.00 and is classified as a non‑Civil Service, at‑will role. Applicants must apply by January 25, 2026 and include a cover letter with their resume to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and experience.
