Mechanical Intern - Buildings (Summer 2026) - 12 Month Term

Description

• Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
• Works with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer / designer.
• Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
• Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer / designer.
• Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
• Performs AutoCAD / Revit design for the mechanical discipline using knowledge of relevant software programs.
• Performs basic calculations to analyze and design individual building mechanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

Requirements

• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
• Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers.
• Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit as a drafting/design tool is considered an asset.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering degree or Technology program at a Canadian University or College. Co-op/Internship experience is considered an asset.
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with load calculation software (e.g. IESVE, Trace, Hap, etc.) and familiarity with provincial and federal building codes are considered assets.
