The Development Engineering organisation is responsible for providing data and evidence to support the power station design through verification, testing, demonstration, and research programmes. This spans nuclear engineering as well as broader engineering and operations functions required for a major infrastructure project.
As a Senior V&V Engineer you will own complex, safety‑critical or business‑critical areas of the power station, developing a comprehensive verification strategy and collaborating with design leads and technical specialists to execute it. Throughout the verification lifecycle you will confirm design compliance, mentor other engineers, and ensure rigorous technical reviews for quality and consistency.
You will lead verification and validation work packages, develop and execute strategies aligned to business and regulatory expectations, assess evidence to determine compliance, and provide mentorship and high‑quality technical reviews across the V&V team. In addition, you will represent V&V in discussions with suppliers, customers, specialists, and regulators, managing technical interfaces to deliver coherent solutions.
The role requires experience in verification and validation of civil, structural or mechanical systems, preferably in a safety‑critical, highly regulated environment. Desired expertise includes modular steel or concrete structures, design for fire/blast/missile/seismic hazards, performance testing, and project management, as well as strong communication, stakeholder influence, and analytical skills. A degree‑level engineering qualification recognised by a professional body is required.
The selection process closes on 8 February 2026, beginning with an introductory call with the Talent Acquisition Partner followed by short‑listing and first‑round interviews. Applicants will undergo additional security screening, including BPSS clearance, DBS check, and a basic financial probity check.
The position is hybrid, with the primary site in Derby, Manchester or Warrington, and offers a salary band of £48,000–£63,000 depending on experience and skill. Additional compensation includes a performance‑related bonus, benefits allowance, pension contributions, 28 days of holiday, private medical cover, life assurance, and a home‑office setup allowance.
