The role focuses on managing the contractual and commercial aspects of projects, ensuring financial accuracy, risk mitigation, and compliance with contractual obligations. It supports project delivery through effective cost control, subcontract management, and technical input while safeguarding the company's commercial interests and contributing to operational efficiency and team development.
Key duties include reviewing and negotiating sub‑contracts to secure favourable terms, monitoring project cash‑flow and forecasting income and expenditure, and preparing accurate payment applications aligned with contract milestones. The position also maintains detailed cost files, manages subcontract orders and variations, and provides cost analysis to support strategic decisions. Additional responsibilities involve interpreting construction drawings, performing technical calculations, liaising with stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions, attending sites to resolve technical issues, promoting Lean principles, and leading training reviews to enhance team capabilities.
Applicants must have GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or equivalent, along with a proven track record of managing contracts across multiple projects. Experience with NEC, JCT and other standard forms of contract, a strong understanding of contract law and cost planning, and proficiency in contract negotiation, administration and dispute resolution are essential. Candidates should be competent in MS Office, project management software, QS tools, and be able to produce analytical estimates, while demonstrating excellent communication, presentation, organisational skills and holding a valid UK driving licence.
