Senior Corporate Counsel-AEC

Description

The Senior Corporate Counsel reports to the Chief Legal Officer. This position examines contracts involving design and construction projects, leases, insurance, etc., and reviews various corporate and governance agreements and documents. The role provides legal advice to the organization, prepares reports and guidelines, participates in the management of legal actions, and works closely with other departments to foresee and protect the company against legal risks.

• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to assess legal and business risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead and complete multiple projects, including contract examinations and legal actions.
• Review and negotiate design and construction contracts, leases, insurance, and corporate governance agreements.
• Provide comprehensive legal advice and prepare reports and guidelines.
• Collaborate with other departments to anticipate and mitigate legal risks.
• Maintain a service‑oriented mindset and conduct compliance research company‑wide.

Requirements

• Hold a Juris Doctor degree and be licensed to practice law in the relevant state(s).
• Possess at least five years of legal experience, preferably in engineering and construction law or corporate legal departments.
• Experience managing and resolving engineering and construction disputes and litigation.
• Demonstrate strong writing, communication, presentation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Exhibit leadership abilities, influencing cross‑functional teams, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to strategic decisions.
• Work effectively as a team player with solid business acumen.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint).
• Willing to travel 15‑20 % of the time.
