Electrical Design Engineer

Description

The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in supporting GGC’s design team across both pre-contracts and active project delivery for major Renewable Energy projects, including BESS, wind farms, solar farms, and substations. Operating within GGC’s established engineering systems, tools, and decision-making frameworks, this role contributes to the development of practical, compliant, and value-driven technical solutions that meet client needs and support successful project outcomes.

• Develop engineering studies and technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers to support design delivery across HV infrastructure projects.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute recommendations that enhance GGC’s competitiveness and design capability.
• Use engineering design tools (such as ETAP and AutoCAD) to produce drawings, models, and system studies that support GGC’s multi-disciplinary design work.
• Support the development and maintenance of design templates, standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical input that supports power systems design, including load flow, fault level, protection, and earthing studies, ensuring seamless integration across all disciplines.
• Deliver clear, accurate, and professional design outputs and documentation to support a smooth transition from design to project delivery, maintaining strong customer focus.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of HV design principles with the ability to deliver accurate, compliant, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
• 3+ years’ experience in HV electrical engineering across substations, BESS, or large-scale power infrastructure projects.
• Tertiary Qualification in Drafting or Civil Engineering
• Skilled in developing SLDs, schematics, protection schemes, configuration settings, equipment selection, earthing designs, and cable sizing.
• Proven capability in power system modelling using PowerFactory, ETAP, or similar Analysis tools.
• Demonstrate strong commitment to health, safety, environmental standards, and compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
