Key responsibilities include ensuring commissioning work complies with drawings, specifications, safety, quality, and budget constraints, and acting as the liaison between the company and the client’s site crew. The supervisor supports on‑site safety policies, documents and reports injuries, and collaborates with the Project Manager to optimize manpower, materials, tools, and equipment for project timelines. Additional duties involve maintaining workmanship quality, mentoring the crew on safety and proper commissioning of equipment, protection, control, and SCADA systems, and assisting with audits and inspections.
Candidates must hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a Degree in Electrical Engineering and have at least five years of supervisory experience in commissioning, especially in substation environments ranging from 600 V to 500 kV. Required expertise includes relay testing, knowledge of power transformers, high‑voltage switches, breakers, CTs, PTs, NGRs, capacitor banks, and proficiency with testing software such as Omicron Test Universe, Doble M4000, AcSELerator, Siemens Digsi, and Enervista. Additional qualifications are strong Microsoft Office skills, a valid driver’s license, a solid safety and environmental mindset, the ability to travel to sites, and 5‑7 years of construction industry experience, with medium to high‑voltage substation work considered an asset.
The position offers competitive compensation with project‑dependent overtime, a comprehensive benefits package covering medical, disability, dental, and vision, as well as paid time off. Employees receive weekly pay periods, company‑paid safety training, an annual PPE allowance after probation, and out‑of‑town work support through camp accommodations or per‑diem meals. Additional perks include an Employee Assistance Program for counseling and a DPSP matching program that increases contributions based on tenure.
