What you would be doing

Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Communicates with other disciplines to coordinate design interfacing issues.
Calculates cost and quantity estimates for project based on analysis of collected data.
Prepares basic engineering calculations and following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analyses.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
May inspect construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and construction.
Assists in checking of various Kiewit Power Engineers calculations, prepared drawings and documents as assigned and within established guidelines.
Develops familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes and Kiewit Power Engineers policies, guidelines and standards.
Checks vendor's drawings for structural construction commodities.
Prepares basic design sketches for drafting and incorporation into final plans.
Submits lessons learned to the Kiewit Power Engineers database.

Must be familiar with basic structural analysis software, engineering software, and basic CADD software for reviewing drafter’s work.
Completed fundamentals of steel design course and/or fundamentals of concrete design course.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Regular, reliable attendance
Should be comfortable with the use of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (with Structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
GPA above 3.0 preferred
Understands, contributes to, and adheres to the Kiewit Power Engineers Quality Plan requirements and objectives.
Completed a strength of materials course with statics and dynamics application.
Highly desirable that the individual will have specific knowledge of SAP2000, MathCad, and Navisworks.
Completed a fundamental of structural analysis course which includes computer application.
Close to moderate supervision by a more experienced engineer.
