Lab Consultant/Taxonomist

Description

• Perform data collection, data entry and tabulation.
• Contribute to a range of lab processes, including the operation/maintenance of equipment.
• Process and identify macroinvertebrate samples from marine and/or freshwater environments in the customised taxonomy laboratory.

Requirements

• Willingness to develop marine and/or freshwater taxonomy skills (if not already present).
• Experience with maintaining reference collections.
• University qualifications in some element of environmental science or a minimum of two years relevant work experience.
• Experience in processing and accurately identifying benthic macroinvertebrates from New Zealand using identification keys.
• Field work experience in freshwater and/or the marine environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
• A clean and active New Zealand driver’s licence.
• Experience with using stereo and compound microscopes.
• Ability to work in a close team environment.
• New Zealand citizenship/working rights are essential.
• Experience compiling data as well as maintaining data records and files.
