Weapons Employment and Tactics SME

Description

The role supports the full acquisition life cycle—from development through sustainment—ensuring weapon systems meet strategic, doctrinal, and operational requirements. The position is on‑site with moderate travel (20‑40 %) and standard core hours (0900‑1500), with limited telework.

• Provide SME expertise for employment, operations, mission planning, and testing of air‑to‑ground and air‑to‑air weapons throughout acquisition.
• Act as liaison between warfighters, acquisition teams, and command staffs to translate operational needs into system requirements.
• Ensure weapon concepts, CONOPS, architectures, and designs align with strategic, operational, and tactical doctrines.
• Develop and refine weapon CONOPS, tactics, and long‑range kill‑web architectures; evaluate threat scenarios for requirement derivation.
• Determine warfighter training needs for advanced technical systems and support integration of system‑of‑systems architectures.
• Design and execute realistic combat‑representative test scenarios; analyze test data to identify issues and improvements.
• Create and maintain integrated roadmaps linking strategic objectives with capability development and investment decisions.
• Support strategic communication with internal and external stakeholders; provide analytic modeling and alternatives analysis.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Top Secret/SCI‑eligible clearance, have a bachelor’s degree, and at least 25 years of relevant experience (including 15 years in operational employment of air‑to‑air or air‑to‑ground weapons). Desired credentials include a master’s degree, prior military pilot or weapons officer experience, and familiarity with digital acquisition and Agile/Digital Engineering.

• Required: Top Secret/SCI‑eligible clearance, Bachelor's degree, 25 years relevant experience (15 years weapons employment), military command‑staff coordination experience.
• Desired: Master's degree, former military pilot or weapons officer, experience on weapon acquisition programs, Agile/Digital Engineering expertise.
