The role is an Entry‑Level Technical Service Coatings Scientist within the Specialty Additives business in Wilmington, DE, reporting to a Senior Scientist. It is a key position in the R&D function, supporting product development and technical service across architectural and industrial coatings.
The scientist will design and execute laboratory experiments, formulate and test coatings, and analyze data to support development, customer trials, and competitive benchmarking. They will also prepare technical reports and presentations, collaborate with sales, marketing, and application teams, and maintain laboratory safety and equipment.

A minimum of a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer/Materials Science or a related discipline (MS preferred) is required, along with at least three years of hands‑on experience in coatings formulation or additives. Proficiency with paint testing methods, familiarity with rheology modifiers, dispersants, defoamers, wetting agents and biocides, and strong analytical and communication skills are essential.
The ideal candidate demonstrates subject‑matter expertise in coating additives, strong problem‑solving ability, and the capacity to lead projects and teams. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and ethical behavior, coupled with an understanding of structure‑property relationships, are also expected.
