In this role you will perform start‑up, testing, adjustment and commissioning of a wide range of commercial HVAC equipment, verify installations, configure and calibrate controls, and document performance data. You will work closely with project managers, superintendents, controls technicians and field mechanics, coordinate with manufacturers, ensure code and standard compliance, troubleshoot issues, support customer training, and keep the jobsite clean and safe.
- Perform start‑up, testing, adjustment, and commissioning of commercial HVAC systems (RTUs, split systems, VRF/VRV, air handlers, VAV systems, pumps, controls)
- Verify installations before start‑up and identify deficiencies or punch‑list items
- Test system performance and coordinate balancing activities
- Configure, calibrate, and validate controls, sensors, safeties, and sequences of operation
- Document start‑up data, test results, and equipment settings with precision
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, controls technicians, and field mechanics to resolve issues
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and factory representatives as needed
- Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards
- Troubleshoot system issues during commissioning and support resolution
- Assist with customer training and system turnover documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite environment

Are you the technician everyone trusts to make it work right the first time? We are seeking a Commercial HVAC Start‑Up & Test Mechanic to play a critical role in commissioning high‑profile commercial projects, delivering ownership, expertise, and confidence to customers when systems go live.
- 5+ years commercial HVAC field experience (start‑up/commissioning preferred)
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and components
- Ability to read mechanical plans, specifications, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- Proficiency with testing instruments, gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools
- Working knowledge of HVAC controls and BAS systems
- Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accurate documentation habits
- Professional communication skills; ability to work independently
- Technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands‑on experience
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- EPA Universal Certification
- OSHA 10
- Manufacturer start‑up or commissioning certifications (e.g., Trane, Carrier, Daikin)
- Controls or commissioning certifications a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb
- Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and in confined spaces
- Able to stand, walk, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions
- Company vehicle and tools (as applicable)
