  • Assists the Service team in conducting field service calls to perform start-up, troubleshooting, or other service-related activities as needed.
  • Perform independent start-up of boiler and related equipment.
  • Develops and maintains good customer relations and rapport. Look for new sales opportunities and equipment improvements. Promotes our products and services and associates favorably.
  • Utilizes test equipment, meters, and one’s mechanical and electrical abilities to fire boilers and related equipment to ensure proper operation prior to and during installation.
  • Communicates well to new and existing customers to determine the nature of boiler-specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support.
  • Completes required field service reports, which document work performed, nature of problem, hours worked, etc.
  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment.
  • Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • May require some overnight travel and overtime.
  • Must be punctual, flexible, trainable, and a self-starter. Able to think outside of the box and follow detailed directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop & service employees.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering studies preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google App programs and use of a tablet and/or smartphone.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations and familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
