The role focuses on technical evaluation of commercial supermarket refrigeration systems, primarily parallel compression racks, assessing condition, capacity, and efficiency for remodel projects.
Responsibilities include surveying existing equipment, gathering system data, performing load calculations, arranging loads on compressor suction groups, sizing compressors, condensers, piping, and pressure‑regulating valves, and specifying alternative system types such as condensing units, distributed, secondary pumped, and emerging CO₂ transcritical systems. Designs must meet all applicable local, state, and owner specifications.
The position also entails leadership duties such as proactively coordinating trades for design integration, reviewing and correcting work, and leading draftsmen or other support staff to ensure efficient project execution and quality assurance.
Candidates must hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with at least three years of refrigeration design experience, or an associate degree with five years of relevant experience, and demonstrate strong knowledge of building codes, communication skills, and client‑facing leadership.
The job may require extended periods of sitting or standing, handling stressful, multi‑tasking environments, and occasional overtime. The work environment is primarily office‑based with occasional field work, and the company follows an at‑will employment policy and equal‑opportunity practices.
