The Mechanical Engineer will ensure that environmental conditions and critical building systems operate at the highest standards across the site. This role supports the reliability of HVAC, water, and power assets.
- Perform routine planned preventative maintenance on all mechanical plant according to site schedules and asset lists.
- Respond to reactive and breakdown calls, including concessionary stores and fabric items, and proactively suggest improvements.
- Diagnose and rectify plant faults promptly to keep systems serviceable.
- Ensure required spares are stocked, providing parts lists and estimated repair times.
- Complete and submit all paperwork for reactive and breakdown work to the contract administrator without delay.
- Prepare and use method statements and risk assessments for all tasks to maintain safe working practices.
- Maintain positive relationships with Smart Managed Solutions staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Uphold a safe and healthy work environment, wearing uniform and PPE at all times.
- Keep plant rooms locked, clean, and tidy, and preserve the professional image of Smart Managed Solutions.
- Supervise and monitor subcontractors’ maintenance activities on site.
- Ensure tasks are completed with appropriate health and safety awareness and in line with contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
- Keep the Computer‑Based Maintenance System (e.g., Maximo) up to date and close out tickets with accurate data.
- Operate the Permit‑to‑Work system in accordance with quality, health & safety procedures and client requirements.
- Apply basic electrical knowledge when troubleshooting mechanical systems where required.

The successful candidate must be formally trained in a mechanical engineering discipline such as HVAC or plumbing, holding at least a City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2 qualification.
